Import from URL — browser extension

One click, no CLI. The extension downloads the video on your own machine and hands it to the editor — nothing goes through PiCut's servers.

Chrome or Edge

  1. 1Download the extension and unzip it.
  2. 2Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode (top right), then click ‘Load unpacked’.
  3. 3Select the unzipped folder. Back in the editor, use File → Import from URL.

Safari

  1. 1Download and open the ‘PiCut URL Import’ app.
  2. 2In Safari, open Settings → Extensions and enable ‘PiCut — Import from URL’, allowing it on picut.app.
  3. 3Back in the editor, use File → Import from URL.

The Chrome Web Store and App Store ban video downloaders, so PiCut ships the extension directly. It only runs on picut.app and youtube.com.

The extension fetches and muxes the video entirely on your machine and IP — PiCut's servers never see the video.
